We are seeking an experienced, motivated, and dependable Lead Installer to complete on-site installations of custom closets, garages, pantries, offices, mudrooms, and other home organization systems. This hands-on role is responsible for delivering exceptional craftsmanship, maintaining a safe and organized job site, guiding the assigned apprentice, and ensuring every project is completed efficiently and to the customer’s satisfaction.
For over 40 years, Closets by Design has been a recognized leader in home organizing systems. We design, manufacture, and install a complete line of custom closets, home office furniture, media systems, wall-beds, garage cabinetry, and more. We are currently searching for a Lead Installer to join our growing team.
The ideal candidate is an experienced installer and capable mentor who can manage assigned projects from job-site arrival through the final customer walkthrough.
Lead Installer Responsibilities:
- Review work orders, design plans, room conditions, measurements, and installation requirements before beginning work
- Verify that all materials, hardware, tools, and equipment are complete, accurate, protected, and accounted for before departure and throughout the job
- Perform hands-on installation of custom closets, garages, pantries, offices, mudrooms, and other organization systems according to approved plans
- Ensure all components are level, secure, properly aligned, and finished to company standards for fit, appearance, function, and craftsmanship
- Conduct quality checks throughout the installation and complete a final inspection before presenting the project to the customer
- Act as the primary on-site contact for the customer, explain the installation process, provide progress updates, address questions professionally, and conduct the final walkthrough
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve field issues involving measurements, site conditions, materials, hardware, or design details; promptly escalate concerns that cannot be resolved on site
- Complete and submit required installation paperwork, daily updates, customer acknowledgments, service notes, material reports, and damage or shortage documentation accurately and on time
- Communicate job status, delays, change needs, and follow-up items to installation management
- Perform service calls, repairs, adjustments, and corrective installations as assigned
- Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment in clean, safe, and serviceable condition
- Demonstrate punctuality, professionalism, accountability, and respectful conduct on every job site

Qualifications:
- Previous experience in custom closet, cabinetry, finish carpentry, millwork, or residential installation required
- Ability to read and interpret design plans, work orders, measurements, and installation specifications
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, levels, measuring devices, and common installation techniques
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and commitment to high-quality craftsmanship
- Professional communication and customer-service skills
- Physical ability to lift and carry installation materials, climb, bend, kneel, and remain on your feet for extended periods
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record required
- Previous experience in custom closet, cabinetry, finish carpentry, millwork, or residential installation required
- Ability to read and interpret design plans, work orders, measurements, and installation specifications
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, levels, measuring devices, and common installation techniques
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and commitment to high-quality craftsmanship

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $60.00 per hour (potential earnings based on commission)
Compensation: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
